"Each image is a reflection of moments created and frozen in time, to be shared by many thereafter" Ruth Burke-1978
Hello, is there something I can help you with? Is there a particular color or subject that you are looking for? Would you like to know a little about why and how I took this photo?
These are questions I would ask after watching someone intently look at my work at my store, the Seaside Gallery or an Art Festival booth. When there is a personal connection to the art we see hanging, it can be a force of calm and joy in our lives. Our thoughts and memories about what we see on our walls or how we relate to the art we see at a local office or medical facility is what has drawn me to create.
Another advantage to photography is that history is also being captured. After moving with my husband from the big city of Houston, Texas to a small sleepy fishing town on the Gulf Coast near the JSC Space Center in the 1970s, I was drawn to capture the contrast of scrubby fishing boats, abundant coastal bird wildlife and sparkling clean pleasure boats on the waterfront. Developments and disasters have played a part in making many of these images a slice of history seen only in a photograph. I have two published books with my name and many of my photos are featured depicting the history of the town of Seabrook, Texas and the Clear Lake NASA Area.
Almost any composition that included water was an attraction for me to create with. My choice of media immediately became photography because I could instantly capture what I saw in the moment of perfect light and composition. I did not want to try to recreate that moment later in another media. The first time I saw a print come to life in the darkroom, I knew I was hooked!
Kodachrome 64 transparency film was my main choice of film. A number of works on this website were first created with film and they will have a slightly soft grainy look. In my mind, they are more representative of what the natural eye sees. Although, the invention of digital capture with high resolution has opened up a way of revealing detail in shadows that is indeed a plus for creating a captivating final image.
My photographs have also been selected for wall décor in large commercial spaces, and with my daughter Lacie, we have created custom digital collages that hang as large wall murals in Libraries and Restaurants.
I have organized the galleries in the online store to feature images that can be combined together as a grouping that can make a design impact or tell a story. The file sizes for each image are high resolution for sharp detailed prints in either a small or large size.
I invite you to read the comments that are added with the images. They offer a little insight as to why and how I took the photo. You are welcome to send me an email with any questions you may have about my art, framing or additional images similar to those featured in this online store. The “VIEW MORE” tab at the top will open up my extensive library of images that in addition to prints, are available to license and download.
For inquiries about mural commissions and image selections for medical and hospitality projects, please reply with an email with information stating the subjects of interest and the scope of the project.
I look forward to working with you on your selections. Thank you for visiting my online store!
